Incorporating Fall
The changing of seasons is a welcomed time. We find ourselves anticipating the shift in weather, color pallets, textures and rhythms of this new time of year. We enjoy taking note of the trends and finding creative ways to weave them in with our past memories to make a meaningful new chapter in our lives. Here are a few trends we are noticing and our favorite ways to incorporate them into your home this season!
Color
Fall hues are something we notice first with the turn of seasons. The pallet is often inspired by nature—warm hues of clay, burgundy, mustard and wheat. While these colors are here to stay, additional ones we are seeing much of include army green, indigo, taupe, and smoky grays. All have a common deep, rich undertone that feels cozy. Brown is officially back and is another staple color for fall this year. Shades of camel, cognac and chocolate are seen alongside a heavy dose of cream to balance and lighten. Consider any of these colors when selecting pillows, throws, or other decor.
Texture
One of the most impactful ways to create a cozy atmosphere is to incorporate a lot of texture. We love using chunky knits, velvets, boucle and furs for pillows and blankets. Woven baskets and rustic ceramic vases are another great way to add texture to your home.
Natural Elements
Bring the outside in with natural elements. Stacks of wood, dried foliage like feathery grasses or statement branches and wreaths full of foraged, woodsy materials.
Scent & Light
Usher in cozy nights with fall aromatic candles. Add a set of taper holders to your decor to display on the dinner table or fireplace mantel. Cluster large, iron lanterns on the porch or patio for a welcoming glow.
