Canyon Drive Nursery
We are so excited to share our latest project with you! Having 9 kids combined between our two families, we know firsthand how special a nursery can be.
Our sweet friend, Lesly, invited us to come help her bring Josiah’s nursery across the finish line. She already had several great pieces to work with but wanted our help completing the space.
Her functional requests included a place to play, a place to read, and more storage space for toys and books. Lesly’s design style is bohemian meets mid-century modern and so we kept these styles in mind as we selected furniture and textiles.
We got to work designing the space. Our vision was for it to feel light and airy but also very livable and fun.
Switching the crib to the wall you see when you first enter the room was the first thing we changed. This is something we suggest for most bedrooms. The bed is a natural focal point and can help draw your eye into the space. We added two modern mountain prints above the crib which served as a bold centerpiece and great jumping off point for a color pallet.
Across the room we balanced the crib with a dresser. We added a midcentury style mirror above and lamp with lots of texture. Incorporating vintage items always brings character to a space, and so when we found this thrifted painting we knew it had to go in the room. Their family loves hiking in the mountains and this painting tells that piece of their story.
A reading nook is one of our favorite parts of a nursery. We went with acrylic shelving to maintain the light and airy feel, added some fun textiles and a cute snake plant to liven up the corner.
Adjacent we placed a teepee made of natural materials and filled it with a cozy faux sheepskin rug and lots of playful pillows.
Woven baskets for toys and a wooden ladder draped in blankets were the final touches to completing this sweet nursery. We love how it turned out and are so happy that Lesly and Josiah have a beautiful new space to make lots of memories!
