When we think about the kitchen we think about people. Serving people, visiting with people, and making memories with the ones we love. We also think about the domestic duty of cooking, and let’s be honest, it is a duty. But that doesn’t mean it has to be without beauty.

When designing kitchens we focus on the hard finishes first. Flooring, cabinets, countertops, tile. But, decorating the kitchen is what makes it really come to life. How you choose to style your kitchen will directly impact the way you feel and how others settle into your space. Here are our top 10 tips for helping create beauty and life in your kitchen…

Clear the clutter!

Give yourself a blank slate to work with by clearing off all of your counters. Store items not used daily in cabinets or the pantry. This will give your eye a rest and allow more function for food prep.

Add wonderful scent

I love to start by using products that smell GOOD. This includes countertop sprays, dish soap, hand soap or any other product you clean your kitchen surfaces with. Then you can add a second layer, like your favorite smelling candle, to give your kitchen a signature scent.

Showcase organic elements

Freshen things up with flowers, herbs and produce. These can be decorations in and of themselves.
